5 Simple Tricks to Better Personal Time Management Reply

Personal Item Placement

  • Eliminate wasted time looking for your personal items. For example, put your keys in the same spot every day.  This goes for all your personal items wallet, purse, etc.  With time and repetition, you’ll begin to build muscle memory.

  • Wear a Watch; Time management is your responsibility and there are no excuses.
  • Set two alarm clocks; Make sure one is battery powered.  If you have trouble waking up in the morning, put your alarm clocks out of arms reach.
  • Punctuality builds strong character.

Stay Informed

  • Watch the local news or read the local newspaper.  What is going on in your town?  There could be road construction, inclement weather on the way, and local events that could hinder or delay your travels.

Pre-Pack & Pre Plan

  • Pack your personal bag the night before and set it next to your other personal items. You can also pick out a few optional outfits you are interested in wearing the next day.
  • Pre-pack your food for the following day.  I like to have a full Nalgene water bottle set aside. Yes, drinking water is part of time management.  Drink a glass of water when you wake up & before you go to bed.  The Institute of Medicine reported these as general  recommendations of water consumption:  for women, approximately 2.7 liters (91 ounces) of total water  and for men an average of approximately 3.7 liters (125 ounces daily) of total water.  Total water includes water from all beverages and foods each day.  I use the good-old- fashion rule of 8 cups of water a day. • Leave 10 minutes early.  Sounds simple enough, but we hardly do it.  If you’re worried you’ll be wasting time, bring something you want to get accomplished or alternate items like a newspaper etc.
